Cleaning & General Care
Care must be taken with both Corian & Laminated surfaces. The following applies to both products as damage via excessive heat, misuse of the surface (such as scratches & chips), & harsh chemicals are not warranted:
- Hot items should not be placed directly on these surfaces.
- Do not use either surface to cut on directly, use a separate cutting board.
- Avoid sliding sharp edged objects along the surface (such as baking metal trays or kitchen utensils).
- Exposure to harsh chemicals may damage the surface.
Day to day cleaning can be carried out by using a damp cloth/sponge and soapy water.
For stubborn stains or light marks/scuffs, mild abrasive cleaners may be used. However, before you begin cleaning this way, we strongly recommend that you first refer to the ‘Corian Care’ Brochure, available on their website www.casf.com.au or you may wish to call them on 1300 795 044.
Laminated surfaces are commonly used in kitchens, bathrooms & laundries. Whilst water resistant, they are not waterproof. Due care needs to be taken to ensure ‘over splashes’ of water are mopped up & not left sitting on the laminate for extended periods, especially on bench top joins. Failure to do so may mean that the surface becomes water damaged, leading to swelling or bubbling of the laminate. This kind of damage is not covered by any warranty offered by the Builder, Cabinetmaker or Laminate Manufacturer.
In terms of cleaning, it is not recommended that scourers or abrasive cleaning agents are used on laminated surfaces.
With use over time, cupboard hinges may come loose and require tightening occasionally as part of Homeowner Maintenance.
